Dislocations considers complacency as a response to disaster and environmental change. Working with imagery drawn from the Louisiana Gulf landscape, I examine the uneasy comfort that can come from turning away from problems that feel overwhelming or beyond our control. Through printmaking and ceramic works, familiar figures, homes, and waterways become sites of both vulnerability and detachment. The work considers how a sense of safety can persist even as conditions around us shift, and asks why looking away can sometimes feel easier than confronting what is happening.
